First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was
not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was
not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because
I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.

Thank you for visiting this web site. It was created with two main objectives: firstly, to attract worldwide attention to the violations of religious freedom in Russia. It is no secret that over the last decade the state of religious freedom in the country has deteriorated.
The newly established churches face dissolution; believers are harassed and intimidated not only by the xenophobic mobs but, most outrageously, by those very government officials whose duty is to protect their rights; foreign religious workers are deported having no idea what misjustice they had committed to the country in which some of them served for many years.
The second objective is to provide effective legal assistance to our English speaking friends and clients and to be a source of unbiased and accurate information on the state of religious legislation and freedom of religion in Russia for religious workers, scholars, human rights activists, just as we do this for the Russian-speaking audience of our site. We shall add and update information step by step. If you have specific questions or legal difficulties, please e-mail us.
The contents of this web site was prepared with the assistance of intern students and volunteer assistants from universities, NGOs and religious communities in Russia and US. Without their dedicated effort, it would not have been possible for us to provide you with this information. Any comment, help or advice on how we could make the site better serve the needs of our audience is always welcome. If you are interested in supporting our initiative, internship or volunteer work with the SCLJ please e-mail us.
